The Institute for Commercial Forestry Research (ICFR) is a non-profit organisation, providing innovative research solutions and related services in support of tree growers in southern Africa. The ICFR is home to various platforms and projects that provide the forestry sector with important research support in tree improvement and sustainable production.

ICFR’s Forestry Research Analytical Laboratory provides specialised analyses and laboratory-based research and development in support of ICFR projects, member’s research, industry initiatives, and academic partners across the country. It is in this important focus area that the ICFR seeks to fill a scientist position.

This is a key position within the ICFR. The incumbent will play a project leadership role in ICFR’s Forestry Analytical Laboratory and work closely with various stakeholders to project manage and deliver on research projects and technical services.

Minimum requirements:

  • A PhD in a relevant field, with a good publication record.
  • Knowledge and experience in laboratory technologies and management, project management, project proposal development, stakeholder engagement, peer review for scientific journals, and mentorship of students and interns.
  • Experience in Near Infrared Spectroscopy and statistical analysis.
  • Background in forestry an advantage.
