ICFR Governance
The ICFR is an incorporated voluntary association registered as a non-profit organisation with the South African Department of Social Development.
Governance is through a Board of Control comprising an independent Chair, Chief Executive Officer and one representative nominated from each of the following strategic stakeholder organisations:
- Body of Members, where membership is through participation of at least one multi-year research project.
- Forestry South Africa or FSA, an association representing timber growers in South Africa.
- Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment or DFFE, the South African Government Department with line responsibility for forestry.
- University of KwaZulu-Natal or UKZN, through its association with the ICFR.
The ICFR subscribes to good governance practices to facilitate sound financial control and compliance with statutory requirements. External auditors provide annual audit reports confirming fair presentation of its annual financial statements, which are prepared in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) for Small and Medium-sized Entities (SMEs), and in the manner required by the Companies Act of South Africa.
Transformation and safety in the workplace are key initiatives with strategies in place to manage relevant statutory requirements.
